Sandie
My name is Sandie Wilson, and I am a retired Occupational Therapist who has rediscovered a lifelong passion for art. After retiring, I joined a local art club whose encouragement inspired me to begin sharing and selling my work.
Art has been part of my life since childhood. I completed my Art A‑Level with a focus on the architecture of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, a subject that sparked a deep appreciation for the heritage woven into Britain’s waterways. As a teenager, I was lucky enough to spend multiple Youth Fellowship summer holidays aboard a camping heritage canal barge at Foxton Locks on the Grand Union Canal.
My family were enthusiastic boaters which strengthened my fascination with canal history, wildlife and the quiet beauty of life along the water. Since moving to Cheshire with my own family, I have continued to enjoy walking the canals, observing the rich variety of wildlife and everyday canal life. These moments have become the heart of my artwork.
I work primarily in ink and watercolour, exploring two distinct styles: a traditional approach and a simplified, geometric contemporary style. Each piece reflects the scenes, textures, and stories I encounter along the canals.
I hope you enjoy exploring my portfolio as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it and if you have any enquiries please contact me.
